Listening Strategies and L2 Listening Comprehension: Does the Test Method Matter?

Many studies have so far tried to examine the relationship between listening strategies and comprehension. However, it seems that none of them focused on effect test method findings. The present study has investigated issue by having 55 English language learners respond pictorial non-pictorial items with different response formats. section Preliminary Test (PET) a 36-item questionnaire were administered in first session after week’s interval, participants took modified version PET listening. data collected laboratory. Several correlation regression tests run investigate relationships comprehension as measured original metacognitive, cognitive socio-affective strategies. results showed L2 learners’ use metacognitive is strongest predictor performance. In addition, findings indicated performance mediated kind which used for measuring Directions future research implications practice are presented.
